Insomnia
| Peak check - this was from the most recent storm. More on the way. |
Apparently I've gone straight from hibernation and into insomnia, or at least poor sleep. I had trouble falling asleep over the last couple of days and woke up feeling a lack. More dreams with things missing, my car apparently stolen. I roamed a giant, snowy parking lot searching for it. Eventually a young woman took pity on me and pointed out a nearby repair that doubled as a chop shop. I found the car in pieces. Then I was missing my plastic cup of Dr. Pepper at a family gathering. Dead relatives present in a house that no longer exists.
Most of my coworkers now work in more easterly time zones. This results in me logging in to a backlog of email and Teams messages every morning. Once again, the future is stupid.
My elderly mother had a knee replacement surgery. I was just glad she made it through the surgery. My poor stepfather is yet again forced into the role of caregiver. I feel guilt for not being nearby.
I'm not myself these last few weeks. I think I can blame it on the aforementioned deaths in the family and other sources of stress, combined with the short days of this time of year.
Middle age. It will bring you down.
Sorry for the griping.
Election next week. Yet again, there are warning signs of trouble but probably it will amount to nothing. Social media is a great source of factual information, but also every other type: counter factual, hysteria, panic, extremism, truth, fiction, etc.
I'm in a personal era of bemusement at humanity.
Maybe snow coming up?
Out.
