New Year
There are some things a scientific education kind of ruins for you. Ever since I learned about calendars and the only approximate relationship between our years and the astronomical events they are based on, I've had trouble taking New Year's seriously. Of course it's important because everyone else thinks it is. But, for instance, I don't make New Year's resolutions, because I think you should live by resolve all the time anyway (not that I do).
The Grinch Who Stole New Year's.
Anyway, this year and I am kind of happy for the new year just because the last six weeks of the year were a little much. By my calculation, of the last 36 days of the year, starting the day before Thanksgiving, I was traveling 13 days and sick at least 7 days. I was very fortunate that I wasn't sick at the same time as I was traveling, which would have been worse, but add in the hectic schedule of holiday shopping and mailing and you get a recipe for some misery.
It's now January and I'm actually still a little sick but at least I'm getting clear of it.
Here's to hope for a good 2026.
