Smoky Winter Writing
Smoke from a controlled burn south of town. Part of living in Flagstaff. |
Smoke is flowing into town from the south due to controlled burns. That's not unusual for winter but the handful of small wildfires over the last couple of weeks is. I'd rather have controlled burns now than experience the runaway firestorms that ravaged Los Angeles recently. Dry winter continues but there's another chance for rain or snow after the weekend.
Even though it's been dry, it's been cold, and I've gone back to indoor pursuits like writing. I'm thinking about truncating my novel. It's taking too long to write and it has wandered away from my intent. I'm just a few pages away from finishing the opening subplot so I could wrap it up and call it a long short story, or a novella. That or it will merely become the first act, if I can think of a way to continue.
As soon as I have a new idea that I like I may start on something different. I have a bunch of ideas stored in electronic documents and paper notebooks but most of them were fleeting interests.
