Dry Winter

Sinclair Wash Trail, Flagstaff.

I went for a run today for the first time in several weeks and for the first time in 2025.

Normally it would be unusual for me to run at this time of year due to heavy snow but we are going through a very dry winter. I keep thinking we will get a major snowstorm, and once it starts it usually keeps going for many weeks, but this year seems to be different.

I took advantage of the unusual weather to get back into running after injuring my right heel back at Thanksgiving. It seems in recent years that I spend as much time injured as healthy, but I'm not giving up on running, because I like it, it gets me outside, and it builds cardiovascular heath. Despite being slow and limited, I'm not ready to quit.

I think January is my least favorite month. But it will be over in twenty days and that suits me.
