Year End Lists

Fall in Northern Arizona

As much I enjoy Christmas, there are things about the end of the year that I don't enjoy. One of the worst things about December is year end lists. I feel like it's an excuse for people who work in the publishing industry to reuse material. Examples of this would be a list of the best movies of the year, most important events of the year, most popular news articles of the year, etc. Writing about such topics allows the generation of content with minimal original work. The work was already done earlier in the year.

We have formal criteria for defining a calendar year, but in the astronomical, scientific sense, it's only a convention (i.e. it's only true because everyone agreed to it).

I find year end lists insufferable and only comment here to say that I'm against them.
