Bell Rock

 

I love visiting Sedona. It's near and surely one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. The problem is that the word got out and now it's difficult to visit due to the number of visitors.

I wanted to hike Bell Rock for the last couple of years but to do it, you have to get there at sunrise. Add on a 50 minute drive from my house and you have to leave when it's still dark.

I made it a couple of Fridays ago. I don't even try to get a group together for a hike like this. If you tell people we need to leave at 6:00 am they start trying to negotiate. But there's no negotiating. You have to go at the crack of dawn or you won't find parking, not even in the overflow lot. I arrived at about 7:05 am and the parking lot was already about a third full. By the time I completed the loop there were people waiting on my parking space.
