Upslope Flow

Upslope flow as a winter storm rolls into the Arizona high country.

I was out for a walk as a winter storm was rolling in, just in time to capture this textbook example of orographic effects, A.K.A. upslope flow on the inner core of the San Francisco Peaks mountain range. The relatively warm and moisture carrying clouds are pushed up the slopes of the mountains, causing them to cool and drop snow. Sorry about the telephone lines, but the photo needed to be timely.
