Prohibido El Paso - Private Property
This fence was recently installed across the Rio de Flag beyond the end of the Sinclair Wash Trail where it crosses into private property. It's owned by local mainstay resort Little America. In the past, they allowed the general public to use their trails and other amenities such as their disk golf course but they announced recently they were closing it due to abuse. Apparently there were issues with trash, illegal camping, and illegal camp fires, which could put the resort at serious risk. This is why we can't have nice things and it's yet another argument that our very serious homeless problem needs to be solved.
It's a crushing loss for the community though, because that area has been used as a through route between neighborhoods for decades at least, and as a gateway to the vastness of the forest. The fence is clearly being circumvented already. I don't know if they are patrolling?
Anyway I can feel winter looming and decided to get in at least one more hike to the duck pond from Sawmill Park. It's a lovely walk. I saw a frog and the waterfowl put on a show, chasing each other around the pond.
