Insomnia
I've been going to sleep ever earlier over the last couple of weeks because the days are getting shorter. Sleeping earlier results in rising earlier, which means more daylight after work. It's cold in the morning, afternoon is better for outdoor activities.
Last night I went to bed at about eight, proving that I'm getting old, and woke at 12:30, probably due to ambient noise. And also cats. I'd failed to lock them out of my bedroom and Ada decided that it was time for me to get up. It took me several minutes to chase them out and then I laid there for four hours only dozing intermittently before giving up and rising at 0400. Arggh!
Anyway while laying there I had some productive thoughts about my novel, and this morning I gathered some crucial research and started filling in character biographies. I then wrote only about 400 words, but they were important words and I'm ready to run off thousands more.
Weird that insomnia can be productive but this isn't the first time. I've often had great ideas under similar circumstances. And now I've written this post, all before 7:30.
