Waterfowl
A Red-winged Blackbird harassing a Great Blue Heron. And then there is the duck, not sure of the species. |
Possibly the same Red-winged Blackbird from a different angle. Perhaps it has a nest in there somewhere. |
I went out for a hike last weekend and ended up on the lower part of the Sinclair Wash Trail, part of the Flagstaff Urban Trail System (FUTS). The trail winds up at the intersection with the Arizona Trail by a wetland and adjacent pond that feeds into a water treatment plant. Unlike the other water treatment plant, this area doesn't smell like sewage. It's always a good place to spot waterfowl and this year there were Red-winged Blackbirds everywhere!
